I always thought the youngest child got all the attention, but things seem quite backwards in our house. Everyday Tyler is doing something or saying something that shocks us. Because he is our oldest, we don't know what to expect at each stage, so he seems to be very advanced for his age. I highly doubt this is true. I think he is just smarter than we ever realized a 2 year old was. And because we are with him, we get to see each time his intelligence shines. Either his memory has really started to mature lately or he has learned to communicate his thoughts better. The other night he wanted something (probably candy). Kevin told him, "No!" Tyler said, "Yes!" And the argument continued. Kevin tried to confuse him so he said, "Yes!" At that moment, Tyler paused and remembered the same incident occuring over Christmas time with his Grandpa Mark. His grandpa was trying to tell him the cat was a dog (or something like that...I don't really remember). Anyways, Tyler remembered this event, started laughing, and and said, "Like Grandpa said cat was dog."
Other than sleeping through the night, Susie's milestones seem far less superior than Tyler's. Maybe I should shift more of my attention to her. When she reaches Tyler's current age we probably won't give much thought to her intelligence because we'll realize that she is just average. Poor little girl. I do have to say, however, we are in awe of how much she smiles! She definately beats Tyler in this category. He was a very serious baby (although he smiles all the time now). I guess as each child grows we cherish what is different about them and that is what makes each one so special.

Here is Susie showing off one of her famous smiles! Tyler tries hard to smile for the camera, but he can't seem to stay still for long enough.

Susie looks even more alert than over Christmas break. I know that when Tyler was going through all of these stages we kept saying, "NOW... he looks like a little boy." But I can't resist...Susie really is starting to look like a little girl. She just looks more aware of what is going on around her etc. Heard about Susie's Reflux....I hope you are able to get it all taken care of. How miserable for both you and her.
Susie and Tyler are so cute. I just love the pictures you post and the stories you share with all of us. Sorry about missing your phone calls the past couple of days. I hope to give you a call soon... I would love to catch up!
