A Pumpkin Carving Party...

Now that Tyler has learned about the calendar (especially the days of the week), he is even better at anticipating special events! Ever since his Uncle Ryan brought home his carved pumpkin last week, Tyler has been asking when we could do ours. We told him Wednesday night, and he has been counting down the days! It was a special day filled with picking out pumpkin patterns--don't you just love the patterns! The kids were so excited about them. Susie especially loves her princess pumpkin. What was even more fun was that we actually talked Tyler into helping gut the pumpkin with his hands, a first for him. It was an event filled day, and it helped to do everything in stages. We found the patterns online this morning. We gutted the pumpkins as soon as Tyler got home from school. I transferred the patterns onto the pumpkins before dinner (with the handy poking tool--my hand was super cramped after poking both pumpkins!). Then, we all carved the pumpkins after dinner. To top it off, Janae bought donuts and served apples with caramel dip to make it feel more like a "party". The kids had a blast. We can't wait to light our pumpkins on Halloween!

Oh ya, and as a side note. I'm beginning to not hate Utah's weather quite as much. We are having an awesome fall with lots and lots of warm days. Can you believe we gutted the pumpkins outside in short-sleeved shirts and shorts?!? And, it was warm! CRAZY!Happy Halloween!

Looks like you guys had tons of fun!! Your pumpkins turned out awesome! Susie has got to be the cutest little girl. I love the picture with her and her pumpkin. Such a cutie. And way to go Tyler for helping you guys gut the pumpkin. I got Jackson to stick his hand in a few times, but then he was done. :)
