Kids really make holidays fun! Each celebration keeps getting better and better. It is makes me so happy to see my kids enjoying the traditions that each holiday brings.
We started the weekend by decorating eggs on Friday night. The kids had a blast! It's amazing the difference a year makes! Last year we frantically dropped all the eggs into the dye, and all the kids ended up with stained hands for a couple of days. This year, Tyler and Susie were really into "decorating" the eggs with paint, sparkles, and stickers.
Then, on Saturday morning, we woke up bright and early to endure the cold, rainy weather for an Easter egg hunt in hopes of winning some prizes. Susie ended up finding 3 eggs with prize tickets--Tyler had none. Thankfully Susie really had no clue about her prize tickets and we let Tyler use one for himself. We used the same clue we were given last year on how to find the "prize" eggs--look for the solid color eggs. This hint held true for Susie once again, but not for Tyler, who was on the big kid field. Many of the eggs on his field were solid color, but only held candy.
On Saturday night, we hid 42 plastic Easter eggs around the game room and family room in preparation for our egg hunt on Sunday morning (Thanks Walmart for selling 42 eggs for only $1.42!). We filled the eggs with candy we already had around the house--including Jelly Bellies--and also pennies.
The kids woke up this morning, found their Easter baskets upstairs. Tyler received two cars to add to his Cars collection. Susie received about 10 different ribbons for her hair. They both were given a small, child-size "big" shovel and rake to help out in the yard, one of their favorite activities. As Tyler was checking out his presents, he spotted a hidden egg and quickly covered his eyes to make sure not to spoil the fun! It was so funny! Then he told me, "You must not be very good at hiding Easter eggs Mom!" We quickly got dressed and started in on some Easter egg hunting fun.
By the way, check out their adorable outfits. These are the clothes they will be wearing for Ryan & Brittney's wedding in 3 weeks.
For dinner tonight, we were supposed to go to Kevin's aunt and uncle's house (a 45 minute drive away) along with Kevin's entire family. However, Kevin decided he really needed to continue studying (he has two tests this coming weekend...then two finals a week after that). So, we decided to stay home and I had to figure out dinner last minute. Luckily I had just bought some steak and potatoes for another dinner, so we used them for our Easter celebration. We added some corn, Rhodes rolls, deviled eggs, and even homemade sugar cookies. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening by ourselves. I love my husband and my kids. It really was a great Easter.
Hope everyone enjoyed Easter as much as we did!

Happy Easter! Your kids look so cute in their outfits! I agree, holidays are so much fun with kids. Especially as they get older and really know what is going on. It sounds like you guys had tons of fun. Jon and I are excited to see all of you in a few weeks at Ryan's wedding. That will be way fun!
Happy Easter! Looks like you guys had a great day, even if your plans had to change a little in the end. I love Tyler and Susies easter clothes. Jackson kept asking (while he was getting his suit on) if Tyler was for sure wearing his too. So I was glad I could show him some pictures of Tyler wearing it.
I LOVE their outfits! Susie looks SO grown up since the last time I saw her. Looks like you guys had lots of fun...Love Holidays with kiddos :)
