Susie started off Kevin's 31st birthday the right way by serving him some of her special birthday cake. We sang happy birthday and he blew out the candles, with her help of course. Then, Kevin headed off to class. The kids and I met him for dinner at Pei Wei. We ate yummy lettuce wraps, the kids enjoyed the edamame, and Kevin and I shared a plate of the honey seared chicken. It was a delicious dinner. Then, sadly, Kevin had to return to school for a night class. Kind of a bummer on your birthday. When he got home, we watched the American Idol finale (Yay for Kris!) and ate banana cream pie that Janae made for Kevin's mini birthday celebration.Because of his night class, we delayed the family celebration until Friday night. The kids and I decorated the kitchen table with streamers and our cute "Happy Birthday" letters. We ate mouth watering steak (from Allen brothers--we discovered their cheapest steak, the prime sirloin strip steak slices, are better than any steak we've ever eaten from the store, and are basically equal in price to buying filet mignon). I made a tasty potato salad and Kevin's favorite, cherry jell-o with bananas, vanilla pudding, and cool whip. For his birthday dessert, we had homemade almond flavored ice cream. I love birthday celebrations. I think it is so much fun to try and make the birthday person really feel they are special and loved on their birthday.
