We had so much fun on the fourth this year. We woke up and were out of the house by 8am for the annual ward breakfast. The kids loved eating pancakes and chocolate milk for breakfast. We got home by 9:30--Kevin studied for a while and I cleaned the house for a little bit--I know, not too exciting. At about 3 in the afternoon (after Susie took a very long nap, a habit I'm happy she has decided to start again), we went outside to swim for a couple hours. We had yummy hamburgers for dinner, and homemade ice cream for dessert. The kids and I supplied the flag plates and napkins for the celebration. We set out blankets on the grass and prepared the fireworks--purely for entertainment for the kids--at about 8pm. We sat on those blankets for about an hour anticipating the big event. Luckily for us, two military fighter helicopters (from the Stadium of Fire celebration at Cougar Stadium) circled around our town about 5 or 6 times. They were so close we really could actually see the pilot's head. We waved and waved the kids are convinced the pilot could see them waving and that is why he circled us so many times. I'm not actually sure why they circled and if they did notice us waving, but it was definitely a great distraction while we were passing time. We started sparklers as soon as dusk started to set in. Finally by ten o'clock our firework show was over and we got the kids to bed. Then Kevin and I snuck back outside to take some pictures of us drawing our names with sparklers. Happy Independence Day!
