Felix the Cat

So, we've kind of adopted a stray cat. At least it acts like a stray, so if this cat belongs to you...it is now living in our garage! You might want to come and claim it.

About 2 months ago, we started noticing 3 different cats hanging out in our backyard. We decided to buy some cat food and lure one of them into our garage (to help scare away any critters lurking out there!). We named the three cats. The large, orange cat became known as Garfield. The large, black cat was Ned. And the small, black cat was Felix. The kids wanted to have the same names that Grandpa Keith and Grandma Megan used for their cats :). Well, Felix was the winner. He started coming around everyday for cat food. Eventually, he started hanging out all day in our garage. And, now he has taken to constantly sleeping on the stairs in our garage. We thought he might like a bed, so the kids and I finally got around to making one for him.

He really is a sweet cat. For being a stray, he is calm and hardly skittery at all. He is always trying to sneak into our house, which is most definitely off limits. He even likes when the kids pet him. The kids have really enjoyed having a cat to take care of.

You might have noticed I've been calling Felix a "he" throughout this post. We are hoping he really is a "he" or at least a female that has been "fixed" (I'm not about to check...and I have probably touched the cat more times than all the other adults in this house combined). If not, we soon may have a bunch of kitties running around.

You are so nice to take in the cat. I am pretty sure I have seen one of the black cats almost everyday for a long time. It comes around the north side of our house and sits on the back steps to our garage. If it is Felix, he will probably stop coming to our house because now he knows where the nice people live! How fun for Tyler and Susie!!

Tell Tyler & Susie that Grandpa Keith & Grandma Megan are so happy they have a kitty of their own and we love the names - makes us feel that a part of the farm if with them in Alpine! Love the bed - good job!
Love and miss you all

What a fun experience for Tyler and Susan. Some of my best memories of growing up were playing with our family cat(s).
