A Trip to the Farm

I think my computer is finally up and running! The hard-drive was going bad. None of my media programs would work. I finally took a trip up to the Apple Store and got my computer repaired! Yay! The repair occurred just before Christmas. I've been on an extended vacation since the holidays (mentally). We've also been fighting ear infections in both girls (I'll post about that later). Hopefully I'll have my blog updated soon. People keep asking me when I am going to update...so without further ado...

A Trip to the Farm
September 18th - September 24th

I was a bit lazy the entire week (on purpose--it was so nice and relaxing!). I had good intentions of pulling out my camera, but finally just decided I'd let Alyssa document the entire week. Most of these pictures are from her camera.

The week's itinerary was as follows:

Saturday, Sept. 18th -
Drive 14 hours to the farm! Ahhhh! By 10 hours we had all had it. Especially Amyah. I don't think it is wise to keep anyone in the car for longer than 10 hours in a day.

Sunday, Sept. 19th -
Rest and relax. Recuperate from Saturday's drive. Alyssa and Moroni arrived today. I finally get to meet Moroni (even though they have been together for almost 2 years by this point...).

Monday, Sept. 20th -
Rocky Reach Dam
(& museum)
The best part of the dam was the fish ladder. So cool! The fish were gigantic. Almost as big as the kids! And there were a lot of them. We were so intrigued by the fish, it was hard to pull the kids away from the window.

Tuesday, Sept. 21st -
Hiking to the top!
I actually relaxed some more at home while Kevin, the kids, Alyssa, and Moroni hiked to the top of the hill behind Grandpa Keith's house. According to Alyssa, it's not the easiest hike because there really isn't a trail, which means there are no switchbacks. Basically you just hike straight up. Tyler was able to finish the hike by himself. Kevin wasn't even planning on hiking, but realized Susie would need help and joined in.

Wee Golf
We also went to play our traditional game of Wee Golf. The highlight of Wee Golf is always the "gift shop" at the end. The kids always choose a stuffed animal from the gift shop after a round of golf. Sorry Dad, but I think they are beginning to expect it!
The Fire Interpretation Trail
We continued our day of outdoor activities by taking a small hike on the fire interpretation trail. It was a simple little hike. We left Amyah home with Grandma Megan while we played golf and hiked.
Thursday, Sept. 23rd -
Orondo Cider Works
What's the best way to get car sick? Drink an entire cup of super sweet apple cider, eat some pumpkin donuts, then sit in the backseat of a truck. Bleh. I feel sick just thinking about it. Thankfully we decided to stop at Lake Chelan and get some air. The weather was beautiful. Not hot. But warm enough the kids couldn't resist jumping in to the water. Of course we didn't have swim suits. And, of course, Susie got her shirt and undies soaking wet. She ended up having to wear her jeans home sans undies. I also lent her one of my shirts which made for a pretty long tunic on her. The best part, however, was how much fun the kids had in the freezing cold lake!

As you might be able to tell from the picture--Tyler felt very cool sitting in the tailgate drinking his cider.

Susie passed out on the way home from Lake Chelan. Tyler had to get "Clifford" into the picture at the last minute. :)
Throughout most of the week, Kevin kept busy chopping wood for my dad. For our last dinner at the farm, my dad and Megan took us out to The Bamboo Shoot. I love hibachi grills, and this one pretty much tops them all with their awesome chow mein style noodles they cook on the grill. Yum!

Friday, Sept. 24th - We woke up bright and early and traveled home. 14 hours in the car. I think I felt the craziest by the end of the trip. Taking care of 3 small kids in such a confined space for 14 hours is exhausting!!! However, we had an amazing time visiting the farm. We always do. Can't wait till we can go back!
