Kevin's 33rd B-day!

May 20, 2011

For the couple months leading up to Kevin's birthday, he thought he would be turning 34. When we informed him of his new age (33) the morning of his birthday, he was actually excited for the first time in years for his birthday! He had gained a year of life!

The Tuesday before Kevin's birthday, we went out to dinner with Kevin's family to Sweet Home Chicago Pizzeria. We love the deep dish, Chicago style pepperoni pizza. We went on Tuesday because the pizzas are buy one get one half off on that day only. It was a fun and tasty way to start his birthday celebration.

At about 10:30 on the morning of his birthday, the doorbell rang and a package was waiting for Kevin on the porch. A very large, unexpected package. We couldn't help breaking into that package immediately! Inside we found a Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker. Yeah! I was so excited! My dad and Megan sent it. We weren't expecting anything. It definitely made our day much more interesting and fun! We whipped up a batch of vanilla ice cream as soon as I had the chance to run to the store and buy some ingredients. Yummy! The next day we enjoyed some fresh strawberry ice cream. Delicious! I have some more ingredients currently waiting in the fridge for another batch tomorrow.

Kevin also received some candy from the kids, a couple quarts of his favorite flavor of ice cream from Baskin-Robbins from his parents, and a book of ice cream recipes from my dad and Megan as well.

For his birthday dinner, we ate steak and twice baked potatoes. Dessert, of course, was homemade ice cream!

We wanted to get a few shots of the kiddos with Kevin. Amyah was being extra smiley and a little too cheesy. Very cute!

Look at Susie's face! She's mad that all the ice cream is just for Kevin!
