Fun with Grandma & Grandpa in the Sun!

March 7-11, 2012

Grandpa Mark & Grandma Janae came into town for a wedding. They stayed at our place, and we were lucky enough to have plenty of time to visit with them while they were here.

They flew in late Wednesday night. On Thursday morning we headed over to Enchanted Island in Phoenix. A friend I made at Tyler's basketball practices/games is the owner of Enchanted Island and she gave me a bunch of free wrist band coupons. It was seriously the cutest little amusement park ever! And the staff was so friendly and helpful! The kids had a blast. Especially Amyah. We had a hard time leaving because she was being so good there! (It was getting late, and we were at risk of missing her nap!)

The park had only about 8 little rides. But, all of them were perfect size for Amyah. And all of them were plenty of fun for the older kids as well.

Riding the train that loops around the entire park.
It spins and spins, kind of like the teacups. Grandpa spun the kids around as fast as he could! I thought he was going to make himself sick! And the kids too! But, everyone seemed to manage themselves.
This was one of Amyah's favorite rides. I think she actually thought she was driving that car!
Everytime I told Amyah to smile and say "cheese", this is the face she gave me!
The kiddie roller-coaster.
The Encanto Carousel. This is a historic part of Phoenix history. It was built in 1948! It is the oldest, continuously-operating carousel in Arizona. I think we went on it 7 or 8 times. :)

On Friday, Mark and Janae were busy during the day attending the wedding of Kevin's cousin. That night, we all headed over to the reception. It was outdoors, a bit windy/cold, and I came unprepared because no one told me it was an outdoor reception! Me and the girls had on short sleeves! Brrrr, it was cold!

On Saturday, we attended a baseball game at Peoria Sports Complex. Dodgers vs. Mariners. The game ended in a 5-5 tie. Did you know they don't play extra innings during Spring Training?

The weather was mostly perfect. A little hot when you sat for too long. The adults and Tyler had a great time. The girls were a bit bored. Our cousins Kristi and Derek met up with us as well. We sat on the lawn in the outfield and enjoyed the sunshine.

Amyah refused to take a picture with me. Here she is rebelling (with her sunglasses on upside down).
The kids with their grandparents.
Our family.
They left on Sunday night. Not sure when they plan to visit again! The heat is coming fast! I'm pretty sure we won't get too many visitors until the summer passes.

That little amusement park looks so fun for little kids- and awesome that you got in for free! You guys are good at finding fun things to do wherever you are!
