With it being Alyssa's last day in Arizona, we decided to head outside and take advantage of the warm(ish) Arizona winter weather. We drove out to the White Tank Mountains. It turned out to be one of the prettiest places I've visited in the Phoenix Valley.
It was a perfect little hike. Not really difficult at all. Even Amyah was capable of walking most of the way. However, it was a bit cold when we started.
The origin of the name White Tank Mountains (as described on the website:
Infrequent heavy rains cause flash floodwaters to
plunge through the canyons and pour onto the plain. These torrential
flows, pouring down chutes and dropping off ledges, have scoured out a
series of depressions, or tanks, in the white granite rock below, thus
giving the mountains their name.
