I'm not very good at this, but I have been asked to give a few details of yesterdays events. Amy will give full details when she gets home. Our new little one was born last night, May 10th, at 8:55 pm. She weighed 6 lbs 10 oz. and was 17.5 inches long. After she was born she was laboring to breath so they quickly took her down to the NICU to give her extra oxygen. After an hour of breathing treatment the doctor took her off the nasal flow to see how she would do. She continued labor and they they decided to give her artificial surfactant to help her keep her lungs open due part of her lungs completely collapsing after each exhale. As they were getting it ready the doctor put her on her stomach to see if that would help. By the time they were ready for the procedure she was doing much better and so the doctor held off and from what I know never gave the artificial surfactant to her. So when I left last night both mom and baby were doing great. Below are a couple pictures from last night. Again, when Amy gets home she can fill in all the details and post more pictures.
