The only real complaint I have about Amyah is her inability to go right back to sleep after eating in the middle of the night. I typically only have to get up once to feed her, but I'm usually up for almost an hour because it takes her that long to settle down after eating. It's really quite frustrating. Last night was the first night since coming home that she actually was dead asleep by the time she finished her bottle. Hurray! Let's hope it becomes a commonality.
I probably get a grand total of 6 hours of sleep at the most each night and that is broken in two 3 hour spurts. This may be enough sleep for wonder mom. But, I'm far from being wonder mom, and 6 hours of broken sleep each night wears me out eventually.
Here's some proof of how delusional I am in the middle of the night:
We have a bottle warmer. Twice now I've done crazy things with the warmer. About a week ago, I woke up, grabbed my baby monitor (don't know why...), went into the bathroom where we keep the warmer, dumped in the water, then set the monitor into the bottle warmer. It took me a few seconds after turning on the warmer before I realized my mistake. No harm was done to the monitor.
Then, last night, I walked into the bathroom, grabbed a bottle out of my cooler, and twisted off the lid (I have to switch nipples around...my preemie nipples from the hospital don't have lids, so I have to keep the bottle lids on that came with the bottles while they are being stored. I switch to the preemie nipples just before warming the bottle.) After twisting off the lid, instead of replacing it with the preemie nipple, I dumped the contents of the bottle into the bottle warmer. I made this mistake because the bottle warmer needs water poured into it to steam the bottle. Instead I poured the formula into the warmer. I instantly realized my mistake, dumped out the formula, rinsed out the bottle warmer, and put a new bottle into it. However, I didn't rinse it out well enough, and now my bottle warmer has formula burnt to the heating element. And, our house smells like burnt formula. Sort of sweet.
Wonder what I'll do next!

haha. I did stuff like that all the time! It cracks me up though. I LOVE my sleep and getting up in the middle of the night is still hard for me. Wish Piper would sleep through the night. I think mom's never really get caught up on their sleep.
