Another Fun 4th of July!

A few days prior to the 4th, all of Kevin's family departed for a family reunion in California. We decided not to go. Kevin had school obligations, and we really don't have a car that fits us for long-distance traveling (no seat for me to be in the back with the baby). We've been spoiled since moving to Utah and have always had family to celebrate holidays with. This was a luxury we missed while living in California. The thought of spending the 4th of July by ourselves seemed fine, but we were really hoping to make more of a celebration out of it. We invited our good friends (old neighbors from our college days) and their 5 kids to join our celebration. They came over on Friday and Saturday. It was a fun-filled weekend of swimming, good conversation, yummy food, and fireworks. For dessert on the 4th, we ate ice cream sundaes with all sorts of toppings--oreo cookies, sprinkles, gummy bears, strawberries, chocolate syrup, etc. Tyler and Susie created our decorations--they colored all the stars hanging from the table. The kids had a blast swimming until dusk. And our wimpy firework show was so much fun for the kids. We had so much fun, I still don't feel too bad about missing the family reunion. :)
