Just a couple weeks after opening the pool for the summer, we were outside enjoying an afternoon in the water. Susie hopped out of the pool, took off her inner-tube, and ran into the garage to grab a toy for the pool. She forgot to put her inner-tube back on when she came running back to the pool and jumped in. She struggled for half a second. Instead of jumping right in to save her, we started saying, "Swim Susie Swim!" And she did! She swam to the side of the pool. She was so excited and proud of herself. She wouldn't stop swimming for the rest of the night. Since her initial splash into the water, she's had a few days where she has been scared of swimming without her floaties. Mostly, however, she just wants to keep swimming and swimming. And, she's pretty good at it! She jumps off the side and off the diving board without floaties. And she can easily swim across the pool. We are so proud of her and so happy that it took no effort on our part to get her swimming!
Always ready with a smile...even mid-swim!
