Roseola

August 7th, 2011

Amyah came down with an extremely high fever soon after we moved. It was 104.5 one night! It made me so nervous....wasn't sure if we needed to take her to the emergency room. Instead I ran to the store and bought Tylenol/Ibuprofin. We loaded her up with maximum doses on both. Then took her into the shower (she was too sad to sit in the bathtub by herself). We finally lowered her fever to about 100, kept an eye on her for another hour, then put her to bed.

I took her to a pediatrician the next morning. They checked her ears and ran a couple tests (strep and urine analysis). Everything came back negative. They told me she was okay. She probably had Roseola. We would know for sure once the fever broke. The tell-tale sign of Roseola is a red rash after the fever breaks.

That's exactly what happened! Here is Amyah with her red rash.

Poor thing. She was really miserable during the few days of high fever. She didn't sleep well and didn't eat well.

Here's a picture just for fun. She loves to do "somersaults". She can't roll herself over yet. But she loves to look at all of us upside down.
