School finally started!!! I think this was the first year I've been excited for school to start. Both older kids are gone the entire day. I thought I was going to miss having Susie around to entertain Amyah in the mornings, but it's actually been really nice. Amyah and I have gotten involved in playgroups and Music Makers. It's been fun to give Amyah some one-on-one attention. And, she's much less feisty when she's the only child at home! I feel like I've been able to appreciate her sweet side a little more.
Maybe we all got a bit worn out this summer spending most days inside because of the intense Arizona heat. We filled our summer days and weeks with swimming, friends, activities, summer movies, reading, math facts, and vacations. However, spending the majority of each day cooped up in our tiny house got tiresome. We are all happy to be in school again!!
Usually when summer comes to an end I dread waking up to an alarm clock each morning, rushing kids out the door, and carpooling to and from school (especially with an afternoon kindergartner/preschooler that requires a 3rd trip to the school each day). This year we were already waking up to an alarm each morning for swimming during summer. And, school actually started later than swimming, so the rush isn't quite so hectic. Additionally, both kids walk to and from school each day with neighbors. I never have to leave the house! Aside from packing lunches, the stress of school has been pretty non-existent.
The kids love their new classrooms. They are making new friends. And, they LOVE that we didn't move this summer and they were able to stay at their same school.
Tyler's in 3rd grade, and his teacher is Mrs. Amos.
Susie is in 1st grade, and her teacher is Mr. Pierce. Yes! Her teacher is a man!
Walking to school...
Waiting to get in the front gates...
