Birthday Boy!

Yet another celebration has come and gone. Tyler turned 3 on July 18th (the same day as my dad's birthday). We had a small celebration with presents and a cupcake with candles on it. We themed Tyler's gifts around camping. We purchased a small, kid-sized Coleman tent--which has yet to arrive so we had to substitute Kevin's 3-man (and much larger) tent until the real tent shows up. He also received a sleeping bag, pretend camping stove, lantern, fishing pole, etc.

On Saturday we had a birthday party for Tyler. Because our backyard is not landscaped, we couldn't have it back there. It was too hot for the park. And, I certainly didn't want 13 kids running around our house. So we decided to clear out our garage, put a pool on our front lawn, and fill up 400 water balloons (it took my neighbor and I 2 hours just to fill the balloons!) Tyler had a lot of fun, but it was more work than I ever expected. I'm not sure if I'll host such a large-scale party again next year--even though it really wasn't much. We swam, had a water balloon fight, ate the $5 Hot and Ready pizzas from Little Caesars, hit a pinata and collected candy, swam some more, ate cake and cupcakes, and opened gifts. Tyler received some cool Lightning McQueen stuff, as well as typical boy toys. The party was a success, but I have been wiped out ever since.

I'm a terrible aunt. I completely forgot to call and say happy birthday...like he would remember anyway...but still...
