Visitors!

Kevin's parents (Mark & Janae, Grandma & Grandpa) and Uncle Craig came to visit during our last little bit of Christmas Break. They actually came for a wedding, but lucky us, we happened to be located near the wedding, so we were fortunate to get a weekend plus a few extra days with Kevin's family during break.

On Thursday mid-morning, while Kevin was at work, the kids and I took Grandma and Grandpa on our favorite hike (okay...the only hike we've been on around here). I didn't want to lug my camera up the hill, so I left it at home, and our only photos came from Mark's iPhone. The kids had a great time. Amyah was definitely a struggle. She really wanted to hike on her own. But, it would have been impossible for her. It is too steep and rocky for a toddler. She also really only wanted Grandpa to carry her. Everytime I grabbed her to give Mark a break, she started screaming!

Kevin took Friday off, and we headed down to a Saguaro Ranch Historic Park. This time, I forgot my camera. Janae was the photographer with her iPhone. We took the free tour of the mansion house. It was actually very interesting! Then, we wandered around the ranch and chased the peacocks and chickens. Afterwards, we headed over to the playground and ate lunch while the kids played (and I pushed Amyah on the swing the entire time).

We ate dinner at the Claimjumper that evening. Tyler devoured his meal. It was big! I couldn't believe he ate so much food! We all really enjoyed our dinner. Delicious! Craig showed up late Friday night.

Kevin, his parents, and Craig drove over to the wedding at the LDS Mesa Temple on Saturday morning. I stayed home with the kids because we didn't have a babysitter for the wedding. Later that night, Derek and Kristi (Kevin's cousin) kindly volunteered to watch our kids for us when we went to the wedding reception. It was great to attend a reception without kids! I was able to really visit and enjoy an evening with Kevin's extended family.

Grandpa Mark is really the only other man (besides Kevin) who Amyah likes. She must have some subliminal familiar memory of him from when we lived in Utah... Her order of preference is Kevin...Mark...me. When we spent New Year's in California, she would scream anytime an uncle or any other man tried to get too close to her. Craig was no exception. She didn't like him in our house either. Finally Kevin got a brilliant idea. He handed Craig a container of leftover Halloween candy. Craig was able to easily lure Amyah onto his lap with the candy, and she was mostly friendly with him for the remainder of his visit.

We can't wait for more visitors to come! Anyone is welcome. Anytime. :)

I SO wish we could come visit! Especially right now with your awesome weather. Oh, and is Craig stealing Ryan's "flying" move?? The might be trouble... :)

Also, thanks for your blog comment yesterday... definitely a good/reassuring one that was greatly appreciated!!

I keep hoping we might get to come and visit you guys before you leave arizona. Okay, so Amyah, might just be at "that age" but I love all the photo's of her. The one with her hand in the bag of pirate booty was cracking me up and the one at the end of your post with Grandpa Mark is really cute!
